The Mechanical Systems Operator will be responsible for overseeing the operational integrity of HVAC systems and associated equipment. This role involves the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of refrigeration, air conditioning, and heating apparatus.


Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and manage mechanical and electrical systems during assigned shifts, ensuring optimal performance.
  • Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of HVAC systems, making necessary adjustments and minor repairs.
  • Evaluate equipment functionality, performing tests to ensure all components of the refrigeration cycle operate efficiently.
  • Address and resolve customer inquiries regarding system performance outside of standard operational hours.
  • Perform routine checks on equipment, including oiling, greasing, and testing for refrigerant leaks.
  • Engage in the repair and maintenance of ventilation, refrigeration, and heating systems.
  • Oversee the operation of steam pressure reducing stations, vacuum pumps, and sump pumps.
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned by management.

Qualifications

Applicants must possess a valid DC 1st Class Steam Engineers License and have a minimum of four years of relevant experience within the last six years.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Candidates should demonstrate a strong understanding of operational protocols, maintenance guidelines, and manufacturer specifications related to HVAC systems.


Physical Requirements

The physical demands of this position include the ability to sit, talk, and hear regularly. The role may require repetitive motions involving the arms, wrists, hands, and fingers. Occasional walking, standing, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling may be necessary, along with the ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision.
