POSITION SUMMARY:

The Office of the Senior Vice President for Research (OSVPR) at The Pennsylvania State University is in search of an innovative leader to fill the role of Assistant Vice President for Research (AVPR). This position entails direct reporting to the Associate Vice President for Research Administration Services and encompasses the oversight of several critical departments within the office.

  • Leadership of Multiple Departments: The AVPR will manage the Office of Research Accounting (ORA), the Financial Analysis and Compliance Office (FACO), and the Subaward Administration and Compliance Office (SACO). Key responsibilities include overseeing accounts receivables, final financial reporting, and ensuring adherence to sponsor terms and conditions.
  • Post-Award Contractual Compliance: Act as the primary liaison for university-wide compliance initiatives, collaborating closely with research administrators and financial officers to implement best practices across all operational areas.
  • Audit Recommendations Implementation: Work in partnership with auditors, federal investigators, and internal teams to address audit findings and ensure the timely delivery of necessary information.
  • Efficiency and Transparency Enhancement: Identify and pursue opportunities to improve systems at The Pennsylvania State University, collaborating with various teams to streamline processes.
  • Financial Reporting Coordination: Ensure the accurate completion of essential reports, including the Annual Report of Research Expenditures.
  • Review of F&A Waiver Requests: Assess and coordinate waiver requests in alignment with university policy.
