Job Description

Job Summary

The Training Support Specialist will provide support to the Army National Guard's (ARNG) Training Aids, Devices, Simulators and Simulations (TADSS) program at Camp Roberts, CA. This role will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the training center, including daily opening and closing of facility schedules, training, and serving as a liaison with military active Army and National Guard Units.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Training Center and the following operations: daily opening and closing of facility schedules, training, and serving as a liaison with military active Army and National Guard Units.
  • Perform warehouse operations, including processing of transactions in TS-MATS, assisting with incoming shipments, issuing, receiving, and accounting for TADSS equipment, and performing user-level TADSS equipment troubleshooting.
  • Assemble and group items/materials according to receiving vouchers/turn in documentation based on property class, condition, and type of transaction, receive inventory, and validate proper type, quantity, and quality.
  • Conduct joint inventory, inspect new equipment, training devices upon receipt, store/prepare equipment for issue, and submit reports to appropriate offices.
  • Utilize Training Support-Material Army-wide Tracking System (TS-MATS) and annotate maintenance, service, train operator, scheduling, and maintenance of accounts.
  • Utilize RFMSS and Microsoft Office to produce requests, lists, records, reports, statistics, memos, correspondence, etc.
  • Comply with all safety guidelines and attend daily meetings with staff to discuss Safety Issues and concerns.
  • Provide technical assistance to newly assigned unit instructors to improve instructional competence.
  • Participate in area maintenance, including cleaning floors, work tables, and stations, distribution office, repack areas, receiving areas, and staging areas.
  • Perform safety checks on forklifts, material handling equipment, and machinery prior to use.
  • Participate in cycle counting and periodic inventories, including the upkeep, cleanliness, and organization of all assigned areas.
  • Prepare for assigned classes, ensure instructional materials, training aids, and systems are available and operational prior to classes beginning.
  • Participate and recommend revision of lesson plans, program of instructions (POI), and ensure soldiers receive training in the most up-to-date regulatory procedures conducted by instructor/operator (I/O's) personnel.
  • Presents technical instruction, including detailed explanation, demonstration, and guidance on practical exercises, evaluation of performance, special assistance to students requiring additional training, observes students operating the trainers, and identifies operational errors.
  • Operate training devices and simulators, including installing, setting up, and performing daily preoperational readiness checks, technical inspections on the trainers, briefing students on safety procedures, required equipment, etc.
  • Train new operators for various simulators and using TS-MATS to track the training and operators that have been trained.
  • Assist unit trainers in developing individual and soldier training.

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship
  • Prior military experience preferred
  • Minimum three (3) years' experience in training support center operations
  • Valid Driver's License is Required
  • Knowledge in Microsoft Office
  • Experience as an instructor/staff/cadre member
  • Working knowledge/understanding of military protocol/chain of command
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships
  • Possess professional demeanor and attitude
  • Ability to work cooperatively with military and civilian work forces
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing in a clear and concise manner
  • As much of the National Guard training is conducted on the weekend, you may occasionally be required to work on Saturday and Sunday

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent

Desired Qualifications and Skills

  • Background in or working knowledge of Military Operations, Training Development, Doctrine Development, or Combat Development
