Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Researcher in Kidney Health and Clinical Innovation to join our team at the Commonwealth of Virginia. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading research programs within the Division of Nephrology, enhancing our research capabilities, and contributing to the development of a patient registry for nephrology research.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teaching and Education: Deliver lectures at the School of Medicine on topics such as value-based kidney care, population health management in kidney health, quality measurement in kidney care, data analytics, and clinician data literacy.
  • Research: Secure funding for the Kidney HEALTH: Harnessing e-Records for advanced, long-term health for kidneys research program, oversee the Designing Equitable Care for Kidneys (DECK) study for community-based kidney health screening, and seek additional funding for the DECK study's sustainability and expansion.
  • Service: Work with institutional and administrative staff to attain the objectives of the Commonwealth of Virginia, including patient safety, maintenance and enhancement of public perception, and fiscal health.
  • Clinical: Be available to do EPIC training to support registry development for population health management, contribute to the division's growth in kidney health, focusing on CKD clinic refinement, hospitalization risk reduction, dialysis initiation preparation, and chronic disease management.
Requirements
  • PhD with an interest and experience in kidney health research.
  • Experience with health outcomes and quality improvement research.
  • Data collection and analysis research experience.
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a diverse team providing effective communication, both verbal and written, and an interest in furthering the research, scholarly, and academic missions of the division.
