The Student Accounts Cashier is responsible for managing all financial transactions related to students, faculty, and staff while providing essential support regarding account inquiries.
This role ensures compliance with the established operational guidelines set forth by the Financial Services Department, as well as adherence to Federal and State regulations and generally accepted accounting practices.
Work Location:
Chalon Campus (West Los Angeles). Hybrid position, with opportunities for remote work.
Compensation:
Hourly rate ranges from $20.00 to $22.81, with potential for higher starting salaries based on qualifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee individual student accounts to guarantee accurate billing and follow up with students regarding financial clearance.
- Collaborate with various departments, including Financial Aid and Academic Advising, to resolve student-related issues.
- Monitor payment plans and initiate communication for overdue payments.
- Execute aging reports and manage account holds to facilitate student clearance.
- Ensure timely responses to all student inquiries received via departmental email.
- Deliver exceptional customer service through various communication channels, including email, phone, and in-person interactions.
- Assist in processing health insurance documentation and student forms.
- Train and support student workers in handling account-related questions.
- Process transactions using the computerized cash receipts system for both student and departmental accounts.
- Reconcile daily cash activities and prepare deposits for review by management.
- Manage petty cash and ensure compliance with related policies.
- Participate in financial workshops and student orientation events.
- Adapt to varying campus locations as needed, including occasional weekend work.
Qualifications:
Knowledge:
Proficient understanding of basic mathematics and accounting principles, along with familiarity with computer applications, particularly Microsoft Office Suite.
Skills:
Strong analytical and organizational abilities, attention to detail, and effective communication skills. Ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Education:
Associate Degree required, with a preference for coursework in accounting.
Experience:
Minimum of one year in a cashier or accounts receivable role, with experience in customer service and cash handling preferred.
