Support Specialist for Individuals with Disabilities

AbleLight (formerly Bethesda) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the belief that the world shines brighter when individuals with disabilities are empowered to reach their full potential. We offer transformative services that assist people at every stage of their lives—from behavioral support and employment coaching to residential services and educational opportunities through AbleLight College, among many others.

We currently have On-Call/Traveling Support Specialist positions available.

The Support Specialist is tasked with delivering direct assistance, positive guidance, and support to individuals of all ages, enhancing their effectiveness in daily activities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assisting residents with dining, mobility, health, and personal hygiene tasks.
  • Accompanying individuals during errands and outings.
  • Participating in community events and enjoyable activities such as outdoor walks, games, and social gatherings.
  • Supporting individuals in achieving their personal aspirations and goals.
  • Coordinating medical appointments.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must pass a background screening.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain all necessary training and certifications as mandated by Federal and State regulations.
  • Availability for on-call duties.
  • Up to 30 hours per week (On-Call status).
