Assistant General Manager Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant General Manager to join our team at The Brewhouse Inn & Suites in Milwaukee. As a key member of our management team, you will be responsible for assisting in the management and supervision of our front and back of house operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Hire, train, and supervise restaurant team members to ensure excellent service and high-quality food presentation.
  • Develop and implement effective strategies to improve customer satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Work closely with the kitchen team to ensure proper food handling procedures and presentation.
  • Manage inventory levels and order supplies to maintain optimal stock levels.
  • Meet with managers and sales representatives to discuss supply needs and negotiate prices.
  • Monitor and control budgets to ensure sound financial management.
  • Forecast restaurant needs and adjust priorities and goals as business demands change.
  • Process receipts and balance sales, cash, and deposit receipts.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and handle guest complaints in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Work cooperatively with the attached hotel, Brewhouse Inn & Suites.
  • Proficiency in using computer software to monitor inventory, track staff schedules and pay, and perform other record-keeping tasks.
  • Assist in planning regular and special events.
  • Maintain and enforce company and hotel standard operating policies, procedures, and manuals.
  • Ensure the highest quality control of in-room, public area, and guest service standards.
  • Operations liaison/coordinator between Front Office, Housekeeping, Maintenance, Valet, Restaurant, and Sales/Event functions.
  • Monitor BEO functions, staff accordingly, process banquet event consumption and banquet checks post-event.
  • Administrator of credit card processing including user maintenance and reconciliation.
  • Responsible for coordinating grease trap cleaning and pest control along with the Chief Engineer.
  • Submits and follows-up on repair work orders to maintenance.
Requirements:
  • Degree in restaurant management or equivalent education and experience.
  • Three years of experience in a management position.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to handle pressure with poise and finesse.
  • Positive attitude, outgoing, and friendly personality.
  • Strong leadership and a professional image.
  • Available to work weekends and nights - Primarily will work weekends, some nights, and holidays required. Flexibility a must.
  • Guest service-centered leadership attitude.
