Position Overview
The role involves managing the collection of various accounts receivables for the healthcare facility, including Commercial, Blue Cross, Workers' Compensation, and other non-Medicare and Medicaid claims. This position requires the submission of appeal letters and inquiries to the relevant payors, as well as communication with patients, medical offices, and other entities to gather essential information.
Key Responsibilities
1. Collaborate closely with departments such as Insurance, Pre-certification, Registration, Nursing, and Medical Records to ensure optimal reimbursement.
2. Address inquiries related to accounts, including billing discrepancies, patient balances, and data inaccuracies.
3. Each representative will manage specific alphabetical assignments and is responsible for updating patient account information received in the department.
4. Review overdue accounts for potential referral to external collections.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Preferred one year of experience in Healthcare Patient Accounts or billing.
- Proficient in personal computer usage and business software (e.g., Microsoft Word, spreadsheets).
- Familiarity with the filing and payment protocols of Commercial, Blue Cross, and other healthcare payors is advantageous.
- A background in medical terminology is preferred.
- Must be capable of performing physical tasks associated with the role, including lifting and carrying up to 30 pounds, as well as various movements such as walking, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
SCHEDULE: 5:00 PM - 11:00 PM, rotating weekends, 8 hours per week.
