About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Electrical Engineer to join our team at BAE Systems Plc. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and developing complex electrical systems for our defense and aerospace customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Translate system requirements into compliant complex printed board assembly designs.
  • Conduct technical trade studies, evaluate technology insertion/upgrades, and perform laboratory testing and troubleshooting.
  • Integrate and evaluate hardware module performance using simulation tools and prototype hardware in a laboratory environment.
  • Create design documentation and verification test procedures.
  • Simplify the Engineering Service Model and knowledge transfer by mentoring junior engineering talent.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience with product development and support of electronics equipment.
  • Detailed design experience in Power Supply (AC to DC / DC to DC) design and EMI design.
  • Knowledge of Platform Power and EMI Standards: MIL-STD-704, MIL-STD-461, and MIL-STD-464.
  • Solid fundamentals of digital/analog/mixed signal electronics and interface/communication standards.
  • Understanding of electronics manufacturing and test methodologies.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience developing compact embedded systems for harsh environments.
  • Familiarity with electrical engineering design, schematic capture, and analysis tools.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with printed board assembly (PBA, PCB) design using Cadence tools.
  • Familiarity with AS9145 compliant processes.
  • Experience with FPGA designs.
  • Experience with radar systems.
  • Knowledge of memory interfaces such as DDR, QSPI.
  • Knowledge of data transfer protocols such as PCIe, Ethernet, JESD 204, I2C, JTAG.
  • Control account management experience.
  • Active DOD security clearance.
