Job Title: Market Specialist

Mid-Ohio Food Collective is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Market Specialist to join our team at the Mid-Ohio Market at Norton. As a key member of our operations team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day operations of the market.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and stage produce pallets for the market floor.
  • Organize and manage product movement of inventory.
  • Maintain the produce cooler.
  • Ensure all produce is pulled and organized before bringing it to the market floor.
  • Conduct quality checks of all food products.
  • Operate warehouse equipment to retrieve pallets from freezer/cooler storage areas.
  • Assist and direct volunteers as needed.
  • Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following safety practices and policies.
  • Participate in special projects as requested.

Qualifications:

Education and Certifications: High School Diploma/GED required. Food Safety Certification provided by MOFC.

Experience: Must have experience providing customer service to members of the public. Experience utilizing Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, is required. Knowledge of food pantry operations or grocery store/market experience is preferred. Experience operating a forklift and/or electric pallet jack is preferred.

Skills/Competencies: Strong organization, communication, and people skills are required. Excellent customer service and communication skills are essential. Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Computer skills are necessary for maintaining Market records and completing monthly/annual reports. Ability to work effectively and efficiently both independently and in a team environment. Self-motivation and a professional demeanor are highly valued.

Work Environment:

Normal office and market environment. Must be able to work in varying climate temperatures as some duties are performed outdoors.

Physical Demands:

Must be able to perform moderate to heavy physical labor (lift 30 lbs. frequently and 50 lbs. occasionally). Daily walking, bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling (300 lbs. with use of manual or electric pallet jack) is required.
