West Sales Manager

Scholar Rock is a biopharmaceutical company that discovers, develops, and delivers life-changing therapies for people with serious diseases that have high unmet need. We are seeking a highly skilled and results-driven Area Business Director (West) to join our team and play a critical role in the successful launch of apitegromab, our phase 3 candidate for the treatment of Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA).
As the Area Business Director (West), you will be responsible for leading a high-performing area field-based sales team and shaping the launch strategy for our first commercial medicine. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to drive growth and market penetration of apitegromab, while maintaining a focus on achieving revenue targets and meeting key performance initiatives.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success in commercial leadership roles, with expertise in strategic planning, talent management, and cross-functional collaboration. They will also possess excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to navigate complex organizational environments. Additionally, they will have prior experience in product launches, preferably in rare and/or neuromuscular disease, and a general understanding of U.S. payer and market access dynamics. Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a comprehensive sales strategy aligned with Scholar Rock's business objectives.
- Talent Management: Build and lead a high-performing area field-based sales team, providing coaching, training, and development opportunities to enhance their skills and performance.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Foster strong relationships with Marketing, Market Access, Medical Affairs, Operations, Legal, Compliance, and Finance departments to ensure seamless strategy and execution.
Requirements:
- A bachelor's degree and minimum 10 years of pharma/biotech commercial experience, with significant commercial leadership experience.
- Ability to develop strategic sales plans with a successful track record in attracting, motivating, and managing high-performing sales teams to achieve or exceed sales goals.
- Proven skills in leadership, strategic selling, and negotiating.
- Prior product launch experience, preferably in rare and/or neuromuscular disease.
- General understanding of U.S. payer and market access dynamics.
- Thorough understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements.
We offer a competitive salary of $180,000 - $220,000 per annum, plus benefits and opportunities for career growth and development.
