Job Summary

This role supports the work of the YMCA, a leading nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The part-time Teen Program Advisor will assist in implementing teen programming at the YMCA and area high schools and middle schools.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitate program activities to meet program outcomes as outlined in the grant.
  • Develop and implement lessons from a curriculum that promotes social and life skills through positive role modeling and learning activities.
  • Create a diverse, culturally sensitive, and inclusive environment that encourages participation from students.
  • Recruit participants for the program from local schools.
  • Provide growth and development opportunities for each participant through goal setting and reflection.
  • Administer pre/post surveys to students in the program.
  • Communicate with parents about their student's progress in the program.
  • Report program changes and equipment needs to the Teen Program Director.
  • Attend scheduled staff meetings and participate in planning and implementation of special events.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent; two years of college preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of experience working with teens and youth.
  • Well-organized and able to handle shifting priorities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Interest in adolescent development.
  • Significant evidence of emotional maturity, moral character, judgment, integrity, and leadership capability.
  • Current First Aid/AED/CPR Certification preferred but not required.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
  • Frequent climbing, sitting, standing, pushing, walking, kneeling, and stooping.
  • Ability to respond quickly and swiftly to emergency situations.
  • Occasionally lift up to 35 pounds using proper technique.
  • Ability to travel to various site locations in the local area on a daily basis.
