About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Electrical Engineer to join our team at Cepheid, a Danaher operating company. As a key member of our Manufacturing Engineering team, you will be responsible for diagnosing and resolving electrical technical issues for our Instrument platform.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive engineering initiatives to improve product reliability and cost structure.
  • Use analytical/experimental problem-solving skills to understand hardware, software, reagents, and consumables issues and to be able to quickly analyze and resolve system inter-operability problems.
  • Participate in cross-functional project teams with scientists, technical support, and other engineers to create new redesigns and resolve determined root-cause issues and collaborate/perform/lead with other team members in the verification, validation, and Change Order submission and implementation of the redesigns.
  • Perform and supervise the testing of components and products to ensure compliance with agency standards. Manage 3rd party testing teams to timely project completion and resolution of testing issues.
  • Increase global access to PCR testing by ensuring supply chain continuity through Sustaining Engineering.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • At least 5 years of relevant work including hands-on experience in designing, testing, and troubleshooting electrical systems.
  • Ability to create and execute test protocols and conduct data analysis to gain insight into the quality and reliability of proposed changes.
  • Conduct board schematics/layout designs (both analog and digital), troubleshooting, and verification of electronics packaged within tight physical constraints.
  • Conduct failure investigations related to electrical systems and components with a proven track record in troubleshooting complex electrical issues, driving to root cause, and implementing effective corrective actions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Competent with implementation of ISO 9001, with ISO 13485 preferred.
  • Previous work experience in FDA regulated environment.
  • Product transfer to a Contract Manufacturer (CM).
