Positioned under the guidance of the CTS Manager, this salaried, exempt role is pivotal in supporting individuals through all facets of career transition, encompassing job search techniques, placement challenges, job retention, and compliance with Job Corps CTS services. The incumbent is tasked with gathering placement data for participants and identifying those who may require re-engagement with employment, educational institutions, or military service within the designated timeframe. A commitment to empowering youth for workforce readiness is essential, demonstrated through mentoring and adherence to the eight Career Success Standards, which include: workplace relations and ethics; information management; communication skills; multicultural awareness; personal growth and development; career and personal planning; interpersonal skills; and independent living.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Uphold and exemplify the core values and operational principles of Eckerd Youth Alternatives.
  • Conduct comprehensive interviews with participants nearing program completion, providing re-orientation and focusing on effective job search strategies.
  • Manage a caseload of active participant files, employing a systematic approach to track progress and maintain regular contact, documenting all interactions in the CTS case management system.
  • Engage in meetings addressing Career Transition processes and student-related issues.
  • Familiarize participants with employability skills and career preparation through classroom visits and workshops.
  • Facilitate workshops for participants and assist in organizing job fairs and career events.
  • Establish and maintain partnerships with military services, One Stop centers, and other external resources; develop job banks; secure and disseminate job leads; coordinate interviews; and arrange transportation and support services.
  • Ensure all necessary documentation, such as licenses and certificates, is prepared prior to participant exit.
  • Maintain accurate contact information for participants and manage file updates, including transfers for relocations.
  • Identify and refer participants to support services for independent living, developing a resource center for these services.
  • Participate in the Career Assessment Panel for participants.
  • Oversee the timely distribution of participant checks and clarify payment processes.
  • Collaborate with center staff to facilitate connections for students pending placement.
  • Safeguard all Personally Identifiable Information and ensure secure handling of valuable items.
  • Initiate contact with former participants to support their transition post-exit.
  • Utilize available data and resources for placement opportunities effectively.
  • Increase contact frequency with participants experiencing job loss and present new job opportunities.
  • Emphasize the importance of job search and retention to participants.
  • Complete and submit necessary data forms for placement processing.
  • Monitor individual performance through regular reviews of reports for accuracy.
  • Assist in the appeals process and verify placements to correct any discrepancies.
  • Provide additional support as departmental needs arise to meet overall placement objectives.
  • Attend mandatory training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Maintain accountability for staff, participants, and property, adhering to safety protocols.
  • Demonstrate and model appropriate employability skills, including personal responsibility and technological proficiency.
  • Foster a respectful and harassment-free environment conducive to learning and growth.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's degree in human services, psychology, counseling, education, social science, business, communications, or a closely related field; or
  • Associate's degree in a relevant field with two years of related experience.
  • Preferred experience in Job Corps.
  • Valid driver's license in the state of employment with a satisfactory driving record is preferred.
Additional Requirements: A solid understanding of case management, career counseling, employment counseling, and job preparation techniques is essential. The ability to communicate effectively with diverse youth populations is critical. Strong organizational and communication skills, both verbal and written, are required. CPR/First Aid certification must be obtained and maintained. The role demands the ability to inspire and motivate participants, along with proficiency in operating office equipment. Effective collaboration with team members and maintaining positive working relationships with all staff and departments is vital.
