Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY

The Culinary Support Specialist plays a vital role in the preparation and planning of meals and snacks, while also managing kitchen inventory and orders. This position ensures compliance with health and safety regulations and is open to taking on temporary responsibilities within the academy.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


• Aids in the planning and preparation of meals and snacks according to established menus and nutritional guidelines.


• Calculates meal and snack quantities and distributes food to designated areas.


• Collects trays and leftover food from various locations and disposes of them properly.


• Conducts weekly inventory of food and supplies, providing a list of necessary items to the director.


• Places orders for food and supplies from approved vendors, adhering to the budget set by the director, and verifies the accuracy of received deliveries.


• Ensures compliance with all relevant health department regulations, licensing, safety, and nutritional standards; maintains high standards of personal hygiene and sanitation, and ensures kitchen staff adherence to these standards.


• Maintains an organized and clean kitchen environment, including all appliances, cabinets, and inventory.


• Participates in staff meetings, training sessions, and academy events as required.


• Accepts temporary assignments when regular staff are unavailable, which may include supervising children during activities and providing support in the classroom as needed.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

Performs other related tasks as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must hold a valid Food Handler's Certification as mandated by local or state regulations. A valid state driver's license may be required for driving duties related to the academy's transportation needs.
