Job Title: Industrial Machine Mechanic II

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Industrial Machine Mechanic II to join our team at The Lighthouse for The Blind in New Orleans. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing manufacturing equipment in an industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform preventive maintenance and inspections on all production machinery and equipment according to manufacturer guidelines and Lighthouse Louisiana Preventive Maintenance Schedule.
  • Complete daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly preventive maintenance sheets.
  • Repair and maintain the operating condition of production machinery and equipment.
  • Install, program, and repair programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and variable frequency drives.
  • Install and repair electrical apparatus such as transformers, wiring, and electronic components of machinery and equipment.
  • Maintain adequate spare parts inventory, including all lubricants and cleaning supplies.
  • Perform all maintenance requests and facility-related repairs as directed by the Director of Facilities & Maintenance.
  • Report any maintenance needs to Director of Facilities & Maintenance.
  • Proactively eliminate safety hazards, utilize safe work habits, and report safety issues, accidents, and/or near misses promptly.
  • Keep work areas safe, organized, and clean at all times.
  • Document equipment issues and repairs to include labor and parts expense.
  • Complete all required documentation in an organized and timely manner.
  • Perform all duties in the most efficient manner to minimize downtime on all machines/equipment.
  • Perform all duties in compliance with the Lighthouse Louisiana - Standard Operating Procedures, ISO, and Quality system procedures.
  • Conduct all business in a positive, professional manner and always maintain a strong teambuilding environment among staff members.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including but not limited to operating a paper towel machine if needed.
  • Ability to manage other Mechanics in an operational environment.
  • Maintain equipment service records.
  • Continue ongoing training and education on relevant electrical components.
Requirements:
  • High School or GED.
  • Technical training or relevant experience.
  • Must have experience in a maintenance mechanic role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, temperature, and pressure gauges.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude, ability to diagnose and analyze mechanical problems.
  • Able to use all types of micrometers.
  • Forklift certified ability.
  • Must have good communication skills and basic math skills.
  • Must have working Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Minimum 1-year mechanical experience, preferably in a high-speed manufacturing environment.
Working Conditions:

Inside and Outside.

Work Schedule: 40 hours weekly, Monday - Friday, overtime as needed. Occasional nights and weekends may be required.
