Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Fire Supply and Maintenance Technician to join our team at the City of New Orleans, LA. As a key member of our Fire Department, you will be responsible for performing responsible duties involving ordering, stocking, issuing, and delivering equipment and supplies to all personnel and facilities of the New Orleans Fire Department. Additionally, you will perform skilled and semi-skilled maintenance and repair work on buildings and equipment in the Fire Department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ordering, stocking, issuing, and delivering equipment and supplies to all personnel and facilities of the New Orleans Fire Department
  • Performing skilled and semi-skilled maintenance and repair work on buildings and equipment in the Fire Department
  • Receiving, recording, and distributing supplies, materials, and equipment
  • Maintaining and repairing specialized fire equipment and apparatus
  • Performing construction, building maintenance, and grounds maintenance tasks
Requirements
  • Three (3) years of full-time technical and mechanical experience in the repair and maintenance of specialized breathing apparatus which must have included work with compressed air
  • Three (3) years of full-time experience in working with specialized fire equipment, including the receiving, recording, and distribution of supplies, materials, and equipment
  • Three (3) years of full-time technical and mechanical experience in the maintenance and repair of specialized fire equipment and apparatus
  • Three years of full-time experience in construction, building maintenance, and/or grounds maintenance
  • Three (3) years of full-time technical and mechanical experience in the maintenance and repair of small household appliances
  • A valid Driver's License and High School Diploma
Working Conditions

This position requires a valid driver's license and a high school diploma. The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced environment and must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. The position also requires the ability to work in a team environment and to communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors.
