The Role

The Lead Permitting Manager will play a critical role in Lumen's fiber investment strategy, acting as a key liaison between our Network Implementation team and local permitting offices. This position requires a strong understanding of permitting processes and a proven ability to establish relationships with local elected officials, policymakers, and community partners.

Main Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement effective permitting strategies to meet company deployment targets.
  • Collaborate with local governments and utilities to streamline permitting processes and reduce cycle times.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and corporate guidelines.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for local permitting offices and community partners.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including elected officials, policymakers, and community leaders.
  • Provide regular updates and insights to the Network Implementation team on permitting progress and challenges.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to enhance permitting efficiency.
Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working in permit offices and with local elected officials and staff.
  • Strong understanding of permitting processes and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and ability to learn new software applications.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience in the technology, broadband, and/or telecom industry.
  • Subject matter expertise in city, county, and state government and utility permitting.
