Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled Senior Optical Engineer to join our Research and Development team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and performing complex laboratory tests, analyzing results, and drawing conclusions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in optical engineering and experience working with high power lasers.
Key Responsibilities- Design and perform complex laboratory tests
- Analyze results of laser experiments and draw conclusions
- Represent Sandia in discussions with government agency personnel
- Travel occasionally for work-related purposes
- Bachelor's Degree in Optical Engineering or relevant field
- 4 years of relevant laboratory experience
- Experience working with high power lasers
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance
- Master's Degree in Optical Engineering or relevant field
- Experience working with kW Class IV lasers
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Matlab and Python
- Experience with National Instruments DAQs and LabView programming
