Job Summary

Argonne National Laboratory seeks an exceptional Experimental Researcher to join our team in the ASP Group (Argonne Special Projects) of the Material Science Division. As a key member of our team, you will contribute to research in novel detection capabilities, focusing on analyte detection in harsh, complex, and challenging environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct research and development in radiation detection, signal processing, and time sequence correlations.
  • Travel to field environments to test and evaluate new technologies created within the group.
  • Collaborate with external groups to accomplish project tasks and technology transition.
  • Conduct support work in the laboratory, including data analysis and statistical methods.
Requirements
  • Master's or Ph.D. in applied physics, radiation physics, or nuclear engineering.
  • Experience with radiation detection, signal processing, and time sequence correlations.
  • Proficiency in Python programming and Linux-based platforms (specifically Raspberry PI).
  • Familiarity with data analysis and statistical methods.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to contribute to written technical reports and presentations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge and experience with scientific software development, software and hardware revision control, and tracking techniques.
  • U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a Q clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of experience or Master's degree with 5+ years of experience.
  • Experience with CAD, R platform, and mechanical proficiency.
