About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Activities Assistant to join our team at Nikkei Senior Gardens. As an Activities Assistant, you will play a vital role in designing, creating, and implementing a wide range of life-enriching activities for our residents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engage residents in one-on-one and group settings, fostering a sense of community and social connection.
  • Lead or assist with group and one-on-one activities, including social, religious, educational, indoor, and outdoor events.
  • Facilitate games, conversations, exercise classes, art and music, trips, and special events that cater to diverse interests and abilities.
  • Support the coordination of the monthly newsletter and lead assigned activities.
  • Encourage resident participation in activities and document outcomes when required.
  • Review goals and progress notes, ensuring a high level of resident satisfaction.
  • Assist the Resident Lifestyle Director as needed, providing exceptional support and collaboration.
Requirements
  • Positive team player attitude and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Japanese speaking is a plus, but not required.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, patience, and compassion for our residents.
  • A minimum of 6-12 months of relevant experience working with seniors and leading life-enrichment activities is preferred.
  • Experience with memory care is a plus.
  • Able to work independently and follow scheduled plans.
  • Ability to maintain composure in stressful situations and treat residents with respect and dignity.
  • Previous experience working in Independent Living (IL), Assisted Living (AL), Memory Care (MC), or Senior Living is a plus.
  • A valid state driver's license.
