Department Overview:

The Department of Information Science, part of the College of Information, is committed to enhancing the understanding and utilization of data and information through teaching, research, and community service.

We prepare highly skilled professionals in the field of data and information, equipping them for diverse roles on local, national, and global stages.

Our faculty measure their success through scholarly contributions and the impact of their students in the field.

The Department's master's programs in Library Science and Information Science have been continuously accredited by the American Library Association since 1965. We offer a range of degree programs, including bachelor's, master's, post-master's certificates, and a doctoral degree in Information Science.



Position Summary:

The Department of Information Science invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor position with a specialization in School Librarianship. We seek candidates with expertise in school libraries, data literacy, information literacy, and library education.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach graduate-level courses, engage in research, and contribute to service within the academic community.

Applicants should demonstrate a strong record of research achievements or a clear trajectory towards future research, along with the ability to design and deliver courses in various formats, including online and hybrid.

This position involves collaboration with doctoral students and participation on dissertation committees. We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about teaching and research, capable of leveraging the strengths of our faculty and programs, and eager to build collaborative relationships within the university and the profession.



Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must hold an earned doctorate in information science, education, or a related field at the time of appointment.

Evidence of effective teaching, research, and scholarship in information science and school librarianship is required.



Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to candidates with school library certification and a proven track record of funded research and publications.

Varies based on assignment.
