Department Overview:
The Counseling Program at UNT is recognized for its comprehensive curriculum, offering undergraduate and graduate degrees in counseling. Our program has received accreditation from the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) for various tracks, including clinical mental health counseling and school counseling. We take pride in our consistent ranking among the top counseling programs nationwide.
Role Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated faculty member to enhance our Counseling Program, focusing on the recruitment and training of future school counselors. This role is tied to external funding aimed at supporting the development and placement of school counselor trainees within local school districts. The selected candidate will engage in a twelve-month, non-tenure track position related to grant initiatives, with a salary commensurate with qualifications.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Deliver two to four courses as dictated by the funded project.
2. Collaborate with project leaders to ensure the success of the initiative.
3. Provide clinical supervision to master's level students.
4. Mentor students in their academic and professional journeys.
5. Engage in scholarly research and seek external funding opportunities.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess a Ph.D. in counselor education at the time of hire, demonstrating effective teaching and supervision experience. Candidates should be capable of instructing across the CACREP core curriculum, including both clinical and theoretical courses.
Preferred Attributes:
- A doctorate from a CACREP-accredited institution.
- Eligibility for licensure as a Professional Counselor.
- Experience in grant writing and academic publishing.
- Professional background as a school counselor in K-12 settings, with the ability to supervise counseling interns in Texas.
Schedule varies based on project requirements.
