Vertical Launch System Technician III

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Vertical Launch System Technician III to join our team at Chenega MIOS SBU. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in the refurbishment of canisters for the US Navy fleet.

Responsibilities

  • Support quality, productivity, and process improvement initiatives
  • Adhere to a high standard of housekeeping and maintain a safe working environment
  • Complete painting tasks using conventional spray guns and apply paint formulas as required
  • Prep, prime, and mask canisters for refinishing
  • Operate forklifts to move equipment and handle company tools
  • Apply imaging decals and complete all work order documentation
  • Execute repairs without direct supervision, following Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)
  • Travel 20-30% to CONUS and OCONUS locations
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Associate degree and 10+ years of relevant experience, or
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent and 12+ years of experience
  • Valid driver's license
  • Interim Secret clearance required on day one, with the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance over the life of the contract

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to share knowledge and skills with junior employees
  • Cost-effective and concerned with material and part costs
  • Dependable, punctual, and dedicated as an employee
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Basic knowledge of HAZMAT programs
  • Effective communication with the team and supervision
  • Efficient use of orbital sanders (DA)
  • Overhead crane experience a plus
  • Strong background in welding, fabrication, painting, and general mechanical repairs
  • Experience with commercial and military Material Handling Equipment
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to follow instructions
  • Proper use of standard hand tools and material handling equipment
  • Ability to lift boxes, packages, and equipment weighing up to 100 pounds
  • Physically fit with full use of arms, legs, and back
  • Ability to maintain required training and certifications
  • Ability to use computers to search for and generate information using Microsoft
  • Ability to travel 20-30% to CONUS and OCONUS locations
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required
