Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join our team at the City of East Point, GA. As a key member of our Water Treatment Plant team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our water treatment facilities, including equipment repairs, preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and work with maintenance staff to ensure efficient and effective maintenance operations
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to industry regulations and standards
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive preventive maintenance program to minimize downtime and optimize equipment performance
  • Perform a variety of manual tasks, including lifting, pushing, and handling equipment, as well as operating fire hydrants and running errands
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and colleagues to receive advice, instructions, and directions
  • Assist with troubleshooting and repairing electronic, mechanical, and hydraulic systems, as well as low and medium voltage electric systems
  • Monitor the availability of parts and replenish supplies as needed
  • Provide 24-hour on-call emergency duty, troubleshooting, and making minor repairs as required
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent; equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Valid State of Georgia Driver's license
  • Knowledge of City departmental policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of water supply, treatment, distribution, facility operations, and maintenance procedures
  • Knowledge of standard practices, materials, tools, hazards, and safety practices of the mechanical trade
  • Skill in operating various tools
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, contractors, and vendors
