Job Summary

The Library Media Specialist will collaborate with teachers to plan and implement instruction, establish and maintain standards of student behavior, and ensure the Library Media Center is organized to accommodate a variety of uses.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with teachers to develop and implement reading initiatives and special activities.
  • Implement the use of technology in program management and instruction.
  • Maintain a balanced collection and an up-to-date and accurate automated catalog.
  • Communicate regularly with all stakeholders using a variety of formats.
  • Provide professional development and technology support for teachers and administrators.
  • Establish budget priorities based on a needs assessment and input from the Library Media Advisory Committee.
  • Maintain library usage records and submit required reports.
  • Develop a Policies and Procedures manual based on State and District handbooks and approved by the District Library Media Supervisor.
  • Evaluate the library media program and student progress, making adjustments to maintain positive results.
  • Adhere to school system rules, administrative procedures, local board policies, and state and federal rules and regulations.
  • Demonstrate professional ethics and leadership.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of instructional technology and be able to effectively communicate with teachers and administrators.
