Job Description

Job Summary:

The Technical Writer is an integral part of the Quality Systems team that will be devoted to the development and maintenance of the organization's quality documentation. The primary focus is to create quality documentation for departments by generating standard operating procedures and detailed quality work instructions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Learn the company's quality management system (QMS) and contribute to a consistent implementation of the QMS across the organization.
  • Work closely with subject matter experts to obtain a high-level understanding of engineering and manufacturing operations and translate these complex processes into simple and polished quality document drafts.
  • Complete work assignments for quality management establishment projects, including shadowing engineering and manufacturing processes, preparing quality document drafts, applying standard formatting, and participation in approval meetings.
  • Perform editing to existing documentation, bringing them into compliance with the organization's quality systems standards and procedures.
  • Cultivate positive working relationships with a variety of subject matter experts and process owners across the company.
  • Assist with identifying all documentation repositories, revising, organizing, and storing to SharePoint's quality documents list.
  • Create and maintain department-level quality document indexes so they accurately reflect the status of quality documents.
  • Execute QMS document control tasks, including the processing of translated documents.
  • Assist with QMS efforts for new or changing business processes as needed.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Travel domestically 10% or less per year.
  • Safely commute regularly between St. Louis, MO Engineering Headquarters and Red Bud, IL Manufacturing Facilities.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with employees at all locations.
  • Conduct activities in a safe and healthy manner and work in accordance with established safety and company requirements.

Requirements:

  • Associate degree or Bachelor's degree in technical communications or related is required. An internship within the organization or 0-3 years of related experience is preferred.
  • Outstanding technical writing skills are a must, along with verbal communication skills.
  • Advanced use of Microsoft Excel and Word. Effective computer skills with other Microsoft Office software.
  • This position requires a highly productive individual with a passion for quality management.
  • Must have exceptional interpersonal relationship skills and an ability to adapt while working with multiple groups across the organization.
  • Requires effective time management skills and the ability to demonstrate professionalism.
  • Meticulous by nature with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated with outstanding organizational skills.
  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proactive in nature and able to effectively learn and acquire new knowledge and skills.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
