Overview

SAIC is in search of a Lead Linux Systems Architect to contribute to our Technical and Production Support initiatives. This position is essential for delivering robust support for our clients in the defense sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive systems engineering support throughout the system life cycle for our NAVWAR and NIWC clientele.
  • Primarily focused on Agile Core Services, while also addressing software and hardware requirements necessary for the maintenance of existing systems.
  • Act as Tier 3 technical consultants for development, maintenance, and escalation support related to Agile Core Services.
  • Provide a wide array of support services, including system installations, configuration management, system upgrades, and urgent support for operational needs.
  • Conduct analysis and modifications to substitute outdated commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) components, adapt systems for new interfaces, and implement changes driven by client specifications.
  • Offer troubleshooting assistance, whether remotely or on-site.
  • Analyze failure reports and communications from the U.S. Navy Fleet to identify system shortcomings.
  • Recommend solutions, perform peer evaluations, and collaborate with production engineers to execute improvements.
  • Develop and revise engineering documentation while managing solutions through a structured configuration management process.
  • Engage in technical meetings, provide updates on technical progress, and deliver presentations.
  • Participate in Integrated Product Teams (IPT), Technical Working Groups (TWG), and engineering/design review sessions.
  • Execute technical planning, define high-level and detailed requirements, and oversee test planning and execution, including use cases and test procedures.

Qualifications

Essential Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience; or a Master's degree with three (3) years of experience; or a PhD with no experience required; relevant experience may substitute for formal education.
  • An active Secret clearance is required to commence employment.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with the capability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as necessary.

  • Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Application Platform (EAP)
  • Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform (OCP)
  • CompTIA Linux

  • EnterpriseDB PostgreSQL Advanced Server
  • ForgeRock Access Management (AM)
  • JFrog Artifactory Pro
  • Ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance post-hire.
