Position Overview

We are currently seeking a Linux Systems Operations Specialist with proven expertise in managing Linux maintenance and administrative functions within a sophisticated enterprise-scale network.

This role is integral to supporting critical Navy missions, including the Navy Information Operations Database (NIODB) and the Navy's Electronic Warfare Data (EWD) initiatives. Please note that this position requires on-site presence, as remote work is not an option.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver technical support, configuration, operations, security, availability, backup, and updates for web servers, developer, and analyst workstations, along with their corresponding images.
  • Collaborate with the Database Administrator (DBA) to oversee the hardware, software, security, and backup protocols for the database servers that host the NIODB and N9 databases.
  • Manage software configurations for N9 workstations, encompassing patch management, software installations, STIG compliance, image management, and performance enhancements.
  • Work with external partners to establish and maintain backup servers at a remote location, ensuring that these servers, database servers, and N9 workstation images are current and compliant with all STIG requirements.
  • Develop and propose a disaster recovery strategy to guarantee the continuous availability of NIODB websites, databases, and workstations, minimizing disruptions and ensuring maximum transparency for users.
  • Provide recommendations to the government regarding hardware and software solutions to adapt to evolving requirements, ensuring that NIODB web servers, database servers, and workstations are equipped with the latest and most relevant tools.
  • Configure and manage N9 assets related to training missions, including simulators and any additional hardware necessary for mission completion.
Qualifications
  • Possession of DOD 8570 CSWF certification: Security+ CE.
  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Systems Administration, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • IT certifications in Linux and VMware Certified Professional.
  • At least 3 years of experience in systems administration, including management of web and database servers.
  • 3+ years of experience with VMware or similar virtualization technologies.
  • 3+ years of experience managing workstation configurations.
  • Preferred experience in the administration of Oracle servers.
  • Strong background in automated systems management tools.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of backup and recovery procedures.
