PRINCIPAL PRODUCT OWNER

Position Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and collaborative Product Owner who excels in team engagement and possesses exceptional interpersonal abilities. This role involves managing the product backlog effectively, actively participating with teams, guiding them towards innovative solutions, assessing impacts, and communicating outcomes to the wider organization. As a Product Owner, you will be responsible for ensuring clarity on the “what” and “when” of project deliverables through continuous planning and roadmap management. You will work closely with stakeholders while bridging the gap between teams, users, and the overall business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee 6-10+ years of experience in product ownership or program management.
  • Demonstrate a strong passion for innovation and strategic thinking while effectively communicating the feasibility and delivery details.
  • Utilize a solid understanding of agile methodologies at scale.
  • Implement value-based prioritization methods.
  • Define project objectives, target audiences, and the rationale behind them.
  • Focus on identifying key features by leading with the problem rather than the solution.
  • Collect insights regarding features to be developed and assess their relative value.
  • Translate cross-functional business goals, epics, and user stories for an Agile team.
  • Develop a prioritized Product Backlog based on value, size, risk, and other relevant factors.
  • Provide the team with necessary context and details to successfully deliver committed features.
  • Encourage team ownership of commitments while maintaining quality and a sustainable pace.
  • Support team and iteration commitments, ensuring transparency when plans require adjustments.
  • Evaluate features produced at the end of each iteration and identify opportunities for enhancing business value.
  • Reassess backlog priorities from iteration to iteration based on insights regarding opportunities, constraints, and risks.
  • Determine the appropriate timing for software releases to the market or customers.
  • Maintain clear release criteria and share updates with the team and stakeholders.
  • Engage with the team throughout the iteration, providing valuable input and feedback.
  • Exhibit comfort with emerging technologies and engage with innovative thinkers passionate about impactful solutions.
  • Possess strong communication skills with experience in presenting to senior audiences and managing stakeholder relationships.
  • Demonstrate strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
  • Effectively manage context switching across various stakeholders.
  • Exhibit a hands-on approach to tackling significant challenges.
  • Collaborate with broader teams to identify and implement platform enhancements that improve user experience and donor outcomes.
  • Work alongside business and agile teams to establish a strategy that promotes a test-and-learn environment valuing data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate closely with agile teams to define initiative roadmaps, prioritize backlogs, and establish Minimum Viable Products.
  • Act as Product Owner throughout the agile process, ensuring user stories and business acceptance criteria align with business requirements and user expectations.
