Role Responsibilities

The Senior Corporate Accountant plays a crucial role within the controllership team, ensuring precise and timely entries into the general ledger. This position supports various accounting functions, prepares financial reports, and maintains accurate accounting records.

Key Responsibilities

  • Actively participate in the monthly closing process, ensuring accuracy in general ledger entries.
  • Prepare and review reconciliations for all Balance Sheet accounts and significant P&L accounts.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP in all expense recognition policies.
  • Record and reconcile all expense and Balance Sheet entries comprehensively.
  • Document general ledger activities, including expenses, payroll, accruals, prepaids, and fixed assets.
  • Assist in data collection for monthly financial reviews with senior leadership.
  • Conduct reconciliations for banking, balance sheet accounts, and major P&L accounts.
  • Support the annual external financial statement audit process.
  • Assist in managing compliance related to income tax.
  • Facilitate state and local tax preparations and payments.
  • Contribute to the budgeting process.
  • Help develop internal control guidelines and procedures for financial management.

Process Improvement Initiatives

  • Contribute to efforts aimed at reducing the monthly close timeline.
  • Support the implementation of systems that enhance processing efficiency while maintaining data integrity.
  • Assist in establishing segregation of duties for reviewing general ledger activities.
  • Participate in accounting system implementations and integrations.
  • Help create and maintain standard operating procedures for major accounting processes.
  • Facilitate cross-functional training among accounting team members.
  • Support the development of accounting flowcharts for key processes related to Balance Sheets and P&L accounts.

Mergers and Acquisitions Support

  • Assist management with the integration of systems, teams, and processes related to acquisitions.
  • Support valuation and operational business systems.
  • Provide assistance as needed during acquisition processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience; CPA candidates preferred.
  • Strong understanding of financial data analysis and reporting.
  • Knowledge of payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable functions.
  • Experience in a private equity-backed environment is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in efficient processes and technology utilization.
  • Solid grasp of GAAP and technical accounting principles.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to conduct financial and quantitative analyses.
  • Experience in establishing robust month-end close processes.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, capable of engaging with all company functions.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively and independently.
