Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain procedures for system operation during normal, abnormal, and emergency conditions.
  • Surveillance procedures.
  • Methods used to perform predictive and preventive maintenance.
  • Failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA) documents.
  • Maintain Maximo asset/component lists, equipment labeling, and key drawings.
  • Support the 325RPL Management Core Team in maintaining a culture of technical excellence and leadership.
  • Perform Periodic System and Program Assessment.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Provide daily direction to facility staff in the following areas:
  • Building modifications.
  • Review of working documents (i.e., project planning documents, facility modification permits, and engineering change notices).
  • Troubleshooting for system repairs.
  • Provide verification of the operational status of the building systems.
  • Be a primary source of information for maintenance planning related to nuclear facility operations.
  • Use creative or unique ways to determine long-term scope, schedule, cost estimates, and input to 325RPL work planning.
  • Integrate the operation and planning which supports the long-term operation of the nuclear facility.
  • Be recognized as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) and use creative and effective ways to solve problems which affect 325RPL nuclear facility operations and administration.
  • Apply and/or develop solutions to complex issues associated with managing 325RPL outages and facility resources to support research.
  • Engineer with facility systems experience (i.e., Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning, Gloveboxes and/or Hot Cells) for maintaining components, system, and structures.
  • Lead interdisciplinary teams and identify critical high-risk issues and develop/implement practices and solutions consistent with Technical Safety Requirements (TSR) and Documented Safety Analysis (DSA), and other 325RPL programs.
  • Build consensus by articulating the strategic requirements for operation of a nuclear facility.
  • Have excellent verbal and written skills and be able to apply them to projects unique to the facility.
  • Work independently without appreciable direction and have the ability to work large projects with relatively few conflicts to schedule, procedures, or policy implementation.
  • Qualify as a member of the Building Emergency Response Organization.
  • Be accountable to the RPL Building Manager for execution of responsibilities.
Qualifications
  • Minimum Qualifications:
  • BS/BA and 7+ years of relevant work experience -OR-
  • MS/MA and 5+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Professional expertise and expert knowledge, complemented by 10 years of engineering experience, including a minimum 4 years of experience in:
  • DOE nuclear, commercial nuclear, or US Navy nuclear operations.
  • Knowledge of facilities engineering design and construction practices, as well as building codes and standards.
  • Qualified as System Engineer as well as an Unreviewed Safety Question (USQ) Evaluator.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Hazardous Working Conditions/Environment

This position requires the incumbent to be Rad Worker II qualified, as the position will require entry into radiological areas.

Additional Information

This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a federal security clearance.
