Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Care: Provide direct patient care, including vital sign monitoring, medication administration, and wound care, under the supervision of a licensed nurse.
  • Treatment Setup and Maintenance: Set up and maintain dialysis equipment, including hemodialysis machines and peritoneal dialysis cycler.
  • Lab Testing and Specimen Collection: Collect and process lab specimens, including blood and urine samples, for testing and analysis.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain accurate inventory levels of supplies and equipment, including ordering and stocking of necessary items.
  • Communication and Education: Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to provide education and support on dialysis treatment and related health issues.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; certification as a Patient Care Technician (PCT) or equivalent required.
  • Experience: At least two years of experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in dialysis or a related field.
  • Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively in a team environment; basic math skills and ability to accurately record patient data.
Working Conditions

The Patient Care Specialist will work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, interacting with patients, families, and healthcare team members. The position requires frequent standing, walking, and lifting of patients and equipment, as well as occasional bending and stooping. The employee must be able to work in a clean and safe environment, adhering to infection control and safety protocols.
