POSITION OVERVIEW


Under the guidance and oversight of a licensed Registered Nurse (RN), the Patient Care Associate is responsible for executing specific care tasks to ensure the safety and comfort of patients. This role involves collaborating with the RN to assist in the formulation and execution of patient care plans. The Associate is trained to respond to urgent situations in accordance with established protocols and is encouraged to engage in ongoing professional development. The Patient Care Associate adheres to the Henry Ford Health System Team Member Standards of Excellence in all interactions.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE

A high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent is required. Certification as a Nursing Assistant (CNA) is preferred.

Completion of a Nurse Assistant training program (alternative titles may include Patient Care Technician (PCT) or Patient Assistant Technician (PAT), all of which fulfill the same responsibilities) is necessary. Alternatively, candidates may be currently enrolled in a nursing program and have successfully completed the Fundamentals of Nursing course.

Foreign-trained and licensed RNs who have moved to the United States without a Michigan RN license are also eligible. Additionally, candidates with a Medical Assistant background, with or without experience, or those possessing at least one (1) year of relevant experience in an NA, PCT, PAT, or similar role will be considered.

CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Completion of BLS Heart Saver Certification is mandatory during the orientation process.
