Job Summary

The Licensed Practical Nurse, under the supervision of a registered nurse, advanced practice clinician, or physician, provides patient-centered, specialized, evidence-based nursing care across the continuum through an interprofessional approach to treatment, research, education, and advocacy.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver High-Quality Patient Care: Performs delegated tasks using evidence-based practice and specific competencies to collect data on the physical condition and nursing needs of patients, and assists with implementing the plan of care.
  • Collaborate with Interprofessional Team: Assists in meeting the care needs of the patient in collaboration with the interprofessional team to provide the highest quality of care and clinical outcomes.
  • Provide Clinical Expertise: Demonstrates clinical expertise in the provision of care in the clinical specialty assigned and performs all functions of the licensed practical nurse that are age appropriate, developmentally sensitive, and culturally specific.
  • Improve Patient Experience: Identifies ways to improve the patient's experience of care, streamline care processes, and lower costs while promoting quality to improve patient, family, and team member satisfaction.
  • Contribute to a Professional Environment: Contributes to a professional environment that encourages mentoring, engagement, and development to retain expert clinicians.
  • Maintain Positive Relationships: Maintains positive relationships with physicians and other interprofessional team members, collaborating to problem solve and to improve patient care.
  • Manage Risk: Demonstrates, anticipates, and proactively manages risk to prevent crises.
  • Perform in Emergencies: Performs skillfully in life-threatening emergencies, matching demands and resources during crises situations.
Requirements:
  • Current Wisconsin LPN Licensure: Must be currently licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the state of Wisconsin.
  • American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS): Must be certified in American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS).
Work Environment:

The Licensed Practical Nurse will work in a fast-paced healthcare environment, frequently exposed to blood-borne pathogens, sharp objects, and hazardous materials. The position requires standing and/or walking for extended periods, transporting patients and/or equipment, and occasional contact with aggressive and/or combative patients.
