Position: Superintendent - Pump Station Rehabilitation and Force Main Replacement

The Superintendent will possess extensive expertise in treatment facility operations, comprehensive understanding of heavy machinery, and familiarity with local labor regulations. This role requires collaboration with the Project Manager to ensure the project is executed safely, efficiently, and within the designated timeframe and budget.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Understanding of contracts and subcontracts to facilitate efficient project execution.
  • Planning and coordinating work schedules in partnership with the Project Manager to establish the sequence and duration of tasks.
  • Adhering to safety protocols and educating team members on proper safety practices.
  • Managing equipment use, understanding machinery capabilities, and scheduling equipment to optimize job efficiency while addressing any mechanical issues promptly.
  • Utilizing labor effectively, with knowledge of union Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBA) where applicable, to ensure proper work distribution and minimize costs.
  • Monitoring costs, payments, and production rates, ensuring alignment with bid expectations and making necessary adjustments to enhance productivity.
  • Tracking quantities, preparing monthly estimates in collaboration with the Project Manager, and maintaining daily reports and timesheets.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent; Associate or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management preferred.
  • Specialized knowledge in treatment facility operations.
  • Ability to interpret plans and specifications, along with strong computer and mathematical skills, and effective communication abilities with various stakeholders.
  • Willingness to travel to job sites as required.
  • Capability to clearly articulate project progress, challenges, and delays.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills, with the ability to delegate tasks effectively.
  • Proficient in software applications such as Excel, Word, CAD, Microsoft Project or Primavera, Heavy Job, Viewpoint, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Experience: Minimum of 7 years in an active construction environment.
