Job Summary

United Locating Services is seeking a skilled Utility Locate Technician to join our team. As a Utility Locate Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring public safety by identifying and marking underground utilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond to requests and emergencies by driving to sites and relocating as needed.
  • Utilize mapping tools and equipment to locate underground utilities such as electrical cables, gas lines, and communication lines.
  • Mark utility locations using paint and flags and communicate relevant information to excavation personnel and authorities.
  • Handle after-hours call-outs based on an established rotation schedule and maintain daily contact with utility managers, excavation crews, homeowners, and contractors to address locate issues.
  • Prioritize work by reviewing all locate requests to determine routing and read and understand utility-provided maps/prints to identify underground utilities effectively.
  • Perform utility locates in various locations throughout the day, facing hazards like uneven terrain, and use specialized equipment to transmit signals onto cables or pipes and follow their paths above ground.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid, unexpired Driver's License
  • Prior work experience working as a Field Technician or performing in a role that services local territory or field-based work outdoors is preferred
