Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team at MD Anderson Center. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing repairs, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance on various equipment, buildings, and utility systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform repairs, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance on equipment, buildings, and utility systems
  • Lead or under limited supervision, perform tasks using one or more craft trade skills
  • Maintain records of materials, jobs, and other pertinent information
  • Respond to and triage critical equipment alarms and make repairs as necessary
  • Repair and maintain utility systems equipment, such as pumps, valves, steam systems, vacuum pumps, compressors, water softeners, and heat exchangers
  • Notify management of all recognized equipment repairs
  • Clean and maintain equipment and work areas
  • Engage in collaborative efforts with team members to resolve problems and repair/upgrade deficiencies in the utility systems
  • Communicate with team members to identify needs for improvement
  • Perform water quality analysis and/or record data on various systems
  • Coordinate regulatory inspections by external agencies
  • Coordinate work and may order materials and maintain inventory
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives and may precept staff
  • Investigate outages and interpret instructions, blueprints, sketches, and diagrams in the installation of utility systems
  • Respond to customer calls and provide customer services
  • Communicate with customers and clients to determine current status of deliverables and learn about customer needs
  • Provide complete information to accurately document corrective action, labor hours, and materials used on work orders
  • Timely communication to supervisor of any other issues encountered during the performance of work
  • Emergency responses for facilities, including code red alarms
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Five years experience in one or more crafts (i.e. plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, HVAC, instrumentation)
