Job Overview

The Environmental Safety Coordinator is responsible for promoting a culture of safety and environmental health within BAPKO Metal, Inc. This role involves continuous training in safety best practices, conducting audits of worksites, facilities, and vehicles, investigating incidents, and developing Job Safety Analyses (JSAs). The Coordinator will also assess hazards, review processes, and ensure compliance with safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the creation and execution of safety policies and employee programs, evaluating their effectiveness in alignment with strategic safety objectives.
  • Identify and implement best practices to enhance safety awareness and reduce risks in work processes.
  • Foster a work environment that prioritizes health and safety.
  • Coordinate training for employees on safety regulations, hazard monitoring, and the proper use of safety equipment.
  • Conduct safety inspections and audits to identify hazards and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Issue corrective actions and monitor their implementation.
  • Assist in the investigation of accidents and near-miss incidents to identify root causes and develop preventive measures.
  • Provide expert advice and mentoring to staff regarding safety initiatives and necessary adjustments.
  • Adhere to company policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook and the BAPKO Safety Manual.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Corporate Director of EHS.

Technical Skills: Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and experienced in driving.

Communication Skills: Bilingual skills are preferred but not mandatory.

Work Environment: This position operates in both an office setting and on-site at production facilities, requiring frequent travel and exposure to various weather conditions.

Physical Requirements: The role necessitates regular communication, sitting, manual dexterity, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or substantial experience in the construction or environmental sectors.
  • 2-3 years of managerial experience.
  • Current certifications such as CSP, CHST, or completion of OSHA training.
