Job Description and Duties

As a Public Safety Dispatcher with the California Highway Patrol, you will be responsible for operating the radio console for multiple Area offices, resident post, and commercial vehicle enforcement facilities. Your duties will include answering 9-1-1 calls, creating CAD logs, and routing calls to the appropriate allied agency or transferring to the correct agency. You will also assist allied agencies and the public using the VESTA telephone system and enter vehicles, persons, and property into automated computer systems.

Working Conditions

The Indio Dispatch Center operates on a 3/12 alternate work week schedule, with seniority shift/vacation sign-ups. This position requires a high level of attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Special Requirements
  • The position requires a Drug Screening to be passed prior to being hired.
  • A Background Investigation must be cleared prior to being hired.
  • Medical Clearance is required prior to being hired.
  • A Psychological Evaluation clearance is required prior to being hired.
  • A Typing Certificate is required, and you will need to provide a copy prior to being hired.
