Job Summary

The Garfield Board of Education seeks a highly skilled Business Analyst to join our team. As a key member of our business operations team, you will play a critical role in supporting the district's financial management and procurement processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with maintaining and monitoring district financial records, including HR/Pension, Benefits, and Payroll.
  • Procure State and Federal grants (ESEA, IDEA, NJSIG, etc) and process necessary documentation to secure federal and state reimbursements.
  • Develop and implement a centralized data system, including procedures, forms, and files.
  • Manage, coordinate, and integrate procurement work, ensuring accuracy and consistency with generally accepted accounting principles and public contracting law.
  • Prepare and interpret procurement requests and current statements of allocations and disbursements of budgeted funds.
  • Perform audit and accounting work involved in recording expenses.
  • Compile and prepare various internal financial reports or statistical compilations for district management purposes.
  • Conduct investigations, examinations, and other inquiries of accounts, records, and reports.
  • Apply and adhere to New Jersey laws and regulations for accounting and contracting in school districts.
  • Use computers and/or electronic equipment to fulfill job functions.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or related degree, or 3 or more years working in a school business office/finance setting.
  • Ability to describe problems and work orally or in writing to supervisor as needed.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.
  • Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide, and perform arithmetic computations.
  • Ability to understand, apply and use personal computers and software applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to problem-solve job-related issues.
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals.
  • Ability to process paperwork accurately according to standardized procedures.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information regarding students, employees and others, financial information, collective bargaining information, etc.
Working Conditions

Works in standard office and school building environments. Ability to work outdoors during outdoor student activities.

Terms of Employment

Contractual employee. Salary will be determined by contract based on years of experience.

Evaluation

Performance of the job will be evaluated in accordance with Board policy on evaluation of non-certified personnel.
