Location: Western Boulevard, Glastonbury, CTDepartment: Internal MedicineSchedule: Full-time, 40 hours weekly, Monday through Friday, scheduled hours between 7:00 AM – 6:00 PMThe Medical Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the Care team and its patients through various clinical and administrative responsibilities, including patient intake, responding to patient inquiries, and documenting patient interactions. The MA operates within the Connecticut scope of practice.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver patient care, clinical summaries, and guidance on next steps or follow-upPerform phlebotomy as requiredCollaborate as a member of the care team, preparing patients for consultations by collecting and recording clinical information according to established protocolsManage patient interactions in accordance with approved protocols and scheduling guidelinesExecute standing orders in line with practice policies and proceduresAccurately document all patient interactions and clinical activities in the electronic health record (EHR) in a timely mannerCoordinate scheduling of tests, treatments, and follow-up visits for patients; assist patients in identifying suitable external resources for disease management and other services; refer patients as necessaryHandle and document patient phone calls; take comprehensive messages and route them to providers as needed using the EHRMonitor task queues to ensure timely responses to tasks, follow up on overdue orders/worklists, and track the status of critical referralsIn collaboration with Regional Nurse Managers, oversee temperature monitoringSupport the care team to ensure smooth office operations and delivery of exceptional service through teamworkMaintain up-to-date knowledge of current coding, OSHA, and CLIA regulations, as well as company policiesAdhere to all patient safety initiatives and infection control regulationsPerform additional duties as assignedBecome part of ProHealth Physicians and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of healthcare in Connecticut. Required Qualifications:
Graduate of an Accredited Medical Assistant programCertified Medical Assistant, or the ability to obtain CMA/RMA within a specified timeframeIntermediate proficiency in Microsoft OfficePreferred Qualifications:
1+ years of experience as a Medical Assistant in a primary care environmentExperience with electronic health records (e.g., Epic)Familiarity with medical terminologyConnecticut Residents Only: The hourly range for this role is $16.00 to $28.27 per hour. Compensation is based on various factors, including local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group adheres to all applicable minimum wage laws.
