Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented International Student Admission Specialist to join our team at Ferris State University. As a key member of our admissions team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional support to international students throughout their application process.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process international student applications, including analyzing special requests and circumstances, preparing files, and inputting data in Banner and specific databases.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact between prospective international students and the university via email and/or letters.
  • Assist with SEVIS and immigration-related matters under general direction.
  • Routinely handle confidential information and assist colleagues on such issues.
  • Work with other offices to process international students' admissions to their programs and transfer credits.
  • Assist in planning and implementing orientation for all incoming international students.
  • Work with Banner, Salesforce, and the SEVIS system for tracking purposes and report preparation.
  • Investigate, develop, recommend, implement, and/or revise University procedures relating to specific areas.
  • Serve as a lead worker for other non-administrative staff with questions and act as a backup to other employees.
  • Coordinate communication with prospective students via various forms of communication, including email, telephone, and social media.
Requirements
  • Satisfactory completion of two years of college.
  • Experience working in an office environment.
  • Proficiency with software applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Effective communication skills both orally and in writing.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
