Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Recreational Therapist to join our team at the Big Lots Behavioral Health Pavilion at Nationwide Children's Hospital. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will work closely with patients, families, and healthcare professionals to provide innovative and evidence-based therapeutic recreation services.

Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and screen patients to determine therapeutic recreational needs, identify strengths and deficits, establish long and short-term goals, and develop an individualized treatment plan incorporating patient and family needs.
  • Administer treatment intervention to meet each patient's specific needs and achieve their goals; observe progress or changes in patient's condition and modify treatment plan accordingly.
  • Simplify the patient's adjustment into the hospital. Facilitate improvements in the patient's self-perception of body image and function.
  • Document patients' evaluation results, objective status, progress towards goals, treatment plan, and recommendations. Utilize appropriate computerized or standardized documentation methods, as applicable to caseload.
  • Educate patient and family on each child's treatment goals and therapy plan; instruct patients and parents on therapeutic activities to follow while in hospital or at home; document instruction; and evaluate ongoing compliance and understanding.
  • Recommend and secure patient referrals to community agencies to ensure continuity of care.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation from an accredited school.
  • Certification as a Therapeutic Specialist through the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification.
  • One year experience as a CTRS preferred or clinical affiliation in pediatrics.
Work Environment

This role is part-time, with two 10-hour shifts per week, Monday through Friday. The work environment is fast-paced and dynamic, with a focus on providing high-quality patient care and services.
