Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Behavioral Health Care Specialist to join our team at Sun Behavioral. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide direct and indirect patient care under the direction of a registered nurse or licensed practical nurse/licensed vocational nurse.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clinical/Technical Skills
    • Perform and record patient vital signs, intake, and output, and notify the registered nurse of any changes.
    • Continuously observe patients' behavior, mental status, and activities, and notify the registered nurse of any changes or unusual occurrences.
    • Escort patients when leaving the unit for activities, meals, visitation, and scheduled tests.
    • Assist with restraint (physical hold) of a patient, placing a patient in seclusion under the direction of the registered nurse and utilizing CPI techniques and adherence to policy and procedure.
    • Document patient information accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Safety
    • Strive to create a safe, healing environment for patients and family members.
    • Follow all safety rules while on the job.
    • Report near misses, errors, and accidents promptly.

    • Work well with others in a spirit of teamwork and cooperation.
    • Respond willingly to colleagues and serve as an active part of the hospital team.

    • Strive to always do the right thing for the patient, coworkers, and the hospital.

Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • CPR and hospital-selected de-escalation technique certification.
  • Previous experience in a healthcare setting.
