Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Seasonal Cashier to join our team at the City of Des Moines. As a Seasonal Cashier, you will be responsible for providing excellent customer service and ensuring a smooth and efficient cash handling experience for our patrons.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform cashiering duties and monitor patrons using City owned facilities, including selling tickets, rental services, concessions, merchandise, and other commodities.
  • Assist customers and collect fees in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Enforce all facility rules and regulations regarding public health and safety.
  • Perform cleaning duties relative to opening, operating, and closing the facilities, including cleaning floors, counters, restrooms, decks, and landscaped areas.
  • Prepare commodities for resale and maintain a clean and organized workspace.
  • Prepare daily reports and deliver money to designated persons.
  • Assist in emergency situations by reacting appropriately in a quick and calm manner as part of the facilities emergency action plan.
  • Assist with maintenance work on or around the facilities.
  • Communicate and coordinate regularly with appropriate others to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of operations and activities.
  • Attend required in-service training throughout employment.
Requirements
  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Requires satisfactory criminal, sex offender, and if applicable, driving record background checks.
