Supply Chain Manager

Job Summary:
The Supply Chain Manager will oversee the Demand Planning, Purchasing, Inventory, Shipping and Receiving, and Plant Supply of the plant. This role will review and implement policies to improve customer service, coordinate production, warehouse, purchasing, and shipping activities to achieve plant objectives, and keep plant management well informed of daily activities and provide recommendations for areas of improvement.
Key Responsibilities:- Effective Plant Planning and Implementation: Assist plant management team in developing short- and long-term production goals, provide suggestions and recommendations for areas of improvement, participate in developing department procedures, and ensure that they support and complement company-wide strategic objectives.
- Personnel Management: Provide leadership to assigned personnel through effective goal setting, delegation, and communication, train, advise, and counsel employees on current job functions and plant control methods, provide recommendations to improve performance and productivity, conduct performance appraisals as required, and assist with personnel decisions including hiring, termination, wage, and promotions.
- Production Planning Functions: Develop daily, weekly, and period forecast and production schedules within an acceptable margin of error, coordinate the order process of raw materials to ensure raw materials are available to meet production schedules, ensure that raw material inventory is maintained at optimal levels to meet customer demands, ensure the rotation of inventory to minimize waste and ensure first in, first expired (FIFO), and ensure plant management is apprised of daily production activity through the production of daily efficiency reports.
- Dry Goods and Supply Inventory Management: Coordinate the purchase of consumables to ensure said materials are available to meet production demand schedules, ensure that inventory is maintained at optimal levels, and ensure that inventory functions are completed in accordance with established safety and quality standards.
- Warehouse Operations: Ensure established warehouse standard operating procedures are met and maintained, make recommendations for equipment purchases and capital improvements, assist in developing policies and procedures for warehouse operations, ensure that warehouse shipments and deliveries are processed efficiently, and ensure problems that involve damaged goods, incorrect orders, and missing goods are resolved in a timely manner.
- Vendor Relations: Work to develop and maintain productive business relations with vendors, suppliers, and shippers, act as liaison between the company and external contacts, ensure effective coordination of external delivery services with company operations, obtain and convey information as appropriate, and promote goodwill and a positive image of the company.
- Communication and Coordination: Coordinate activities with production, customer service, receiving, and inventory personnel to ensure on-time production, implement and maintain all plant reports for assigned areas of responsibility as well as operational areas within the plant, maintain scorecards to ensure plant management is abreast of operational status, and provide support for warehouse, receiving, and production personnel.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in business or related field or 8 years of operational management experience in a plant environment.
- Certifications: SQF and GMP certification.
- Skills: Expert level knowledge of the company's demand planning process, with a solid understanding of demand forecast development, expert level computer skills including the ability to prepare spreadsheets and use Microsoft Office products (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and/or Access) to analyze data and trends, working knowledge of HR policies and employment laws, expert level knowledge of raw material and finished good products, working knowledge of warehouse processes and inventory systems, previous experience/broad understanding of safety systems and enforcement of safety rules and policies, demonstrated strong leadership, teambuilding, and advanced coaching skills, excellent planning and organizational skills, with the ability to balance production and maintenance needs, excellent interpersonal communication and listening ability, ability to speak, read, and write English, bilingual (Spanish) preferred, and strong analytical and decision-making skills.

- Must be able to frequently and regularly use wrists, hands, and or fingers.
- Average, ordinary visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents, products, or operate machinery.
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds throughout the day.
