POSITION SUMMARY:
The Critical Care Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for delivering comprehensive, direct patient care in accordance with established protocols and standards. This role involves utilizing the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care for individuals in the intensive care unit.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Deliver primary nursing care to patients, ensuring adherence to state and federal regulations.
  • Supervise and support other healthcare team members in delivering quality care.
  • Maintain compliance with the standards set forth by the Alaska State Board of Nursing and the American Nurses Association.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient care plans and outcomes.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring accurate documentation of care provided.
  • Engage in continuous education and training to maintain certifications and enhance nursing skills.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Current Registered Nurse license in the state of Alaska.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in an intensive care setting.
  • Required certifications include ACLS, BLS, and PALS.
  • Must obtain TNCC certification within six months of hire.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential for patient interaction and documentation.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations for medication dosages.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The role is situated within a critical access hospital that provides acute care and long-term services. The position demands physical stamina, including the ability to stand for extended periods and lift patients when necessary. Staff may encounter various health risks, including exposure to infectious diseases. A mechanical lift is available to assist with patient handling.
