Job Overview

The Chief of Facility Operations is tasked with ensuring the optimal physical state of the property, maintaining safety, efficiency, and quality standards.

This role encompasses directing and assisting in all aspects of facility operations, overseeing the maintenance team, including technicians and support staff.

Key Responsibilities

Develops, implements, and refines preventive maintenance strategies by analyzing maintenance reports, quality control data, and conducting inspections of machinery and systems to ensure compliance with operational benchmarks.

Leads facility operations by:

  • Identifying operational needs and forecasting necessary resources.
  • Providing oversight for minor construction and capital improvement initiatives.
  • Ensuring timely completion of all maintenance tasks through effective direction of supervisors and technicians.

Prepares and approves specifications for the procurement of replacement parts and new systems. Enhances maintenance team performance through coaching, counseling, and performance evaluations.

Ensures compliance with all relevant legal requirements by monitoring legislation and advising management on necessary actions.

Qualifications

Establishes an annual maintenance budget by:

  • Preparing recommendations for capital and renovation projects.
  • Coordinating project schedules with procurement.
  • Analyzing budget variances and initiating corrective measures.

Determines work priorities based on facility needs, equipment age, and maintenance requests. Promotes continuous improvement by:

  • Reviewing new products and systems.
  • Collaborating with engineers and vendors on equipment modifications.
  • Coordinating technician and contractor activities for structural or system modifications.
Requirements

Minimum of three years of experience in facility maintenance is required. Candidates should possess:

  • Strong problem-solving skills to identify and resolve maintenance issues promptly.
  • In-depth knowledge of physical plant maintenance standards.
  • Familiarity with state and federal regulations.
  • Experience in estimating maintenance and repair costs is preferred.
