Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Industrial Engineering Capacity Planning Specialist to join our team at Western Digital. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing capacity planning models to ensure optimal equipment utilization and meet dynamic product volume mix changes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Capacity Planning and Modeling: Develop and maintain accurate capacity planning models to support mid-range R8Q and long-term LRP planning, ensuring optimal equipment utilization and meeting dynamic product volume mix changes.
  • Equipment Requirements Analysis: Define long-term capacity and capital requirements to meet changing product volume mix and technology transitions, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Process Improvement: Collaborate with Process/Equipment/Manufacturing engineering teams to identify operating efficiency losses and implement solutions to improve equipment Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and throughput for capital efficiency.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Represent Western Digital in discussions with external services, consultants, contractors, and suppliers to support capacity planning and equipment requirements analysis.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: A four-year degree in Industrial Engineering & Operation Research and five years of related experience, or an advanced degree and 3 years of related experience, or equivalent industry experience and demonstrated successes.
  • Technical Skills: Expertise in managing Capital Request/Receipt/Depreciation and Capacity modeling for Wafer FAB, as well as proficiency in APF, Spotfire, and Microsoft Office programs, especially MS Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to wear wafer fab cleanroom garments and remain in cleanroom environment for extended periods of time, for purpose of performing floor studies to support capacity planning and equipment requirements analysis.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of Wafer Fab Protocol: Knowledge and application of proper wafer fab protocol, procedures, and process flows is a plus.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Exemplary written and oral communication skills, with ability to write clear analyses, reports, and summaries, and orally present these analyses, reports, and summaries at regularly scheduled and spontaneous meetings with peers and management.
